CALL TO ACTION:

Those in the nurse practitioner community should be VERY alarmed at these proposed changes to nurse practitioner program accreditation. These changes include a complete deletion of national standards and guidelines for nurse practitioner education. The differentiation between entry-level and advanced nursing roles has been excluded! This decision has the potential to dilute the NP role to entry-level RN practice, which could, in turn, impact the progress that has been made nationwide toward achieving full practice authority for NPs.  The lack of mandated professional standards as proposed gives us great concern for the quality of future nurses and nurse practitioner graduates, our nursing profession, and patient safety. Therefore, we believe these revisions undermine nursing at all levels and will have negative legislative impacts as well.

This is a CALL TO ACTION, and we need you to let CCNE know that this is not an acceptable path forward for nursing.

The proposed CCNE Accreditation standards have been released and are available for comment until November 16th. Please email ccnestandards@ccneaccreditation.org before 11/16 so we can make sure these changes are NOT adopted!
